If you have a Mobile Number with an XYZ operator and want to switch to ABC operator without changing your number, MNP (Mobile Number Portability) is the answer. Now, say my mobile number is from Airtel and I want to take a better offer from Hutch. But when I switch to HUTCH, I need to take a new number from HUTCH and I need to change my old good number which is known to all my friends and relatives! MNP will be lunch in aug in few major citi and then it will roll out all over india by end of this year after lunch of 3G raju told. but MNP they are lunching from last 3 years ... this is india :D dude..

Cool man, this will really solve many probs..
But i think there must be some mutual settlement between different providers coz the series are basically different from provider to provider, and if you need to use number of one provider to another then the other one should accept different series tht do not exist in their system... let see how works...sounds great!!!
